OFFICE SUPPORT ASSOCIATE (Part-time 50%)-CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS
Description: This position is responsible for providing a high level of secretarial services with minimum supervision for the Center for International Programs whose goal is to provide services relevant to international students and scholars pursuing their academic goals and domestic students seeking study abroad opportunities. This individual maintains the calendar of operation and administrative commitments for the International Student Advisors, International Admissions Specialist, Assistant Director and Director of International Programs, including appointments, meetings, reports, correspondence, special projects, proposals, apprising them of deadlines with sufficient notice for preparation. This person independently establishes and revises schedules as necessary. She/he handles personal contacts for International Student Advisors, International Admissions Specialist, and the Assistant Director, determines appropriate course of action, answers questions requiring application of regulations and procedures to specific problems or transactions on a case by case basis. In a front desk location, this position reviews incoming mail, screens, prioritizes and highlights important information, attaches related materials, drafts potential responses and determines which items to handle and which may be referred to others; administers office procedures, including, but not limited to work flow, work assignments, coordination and production. The Office Support Associate may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department's mission and goals.
1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:
(a) work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer systems
(b) vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures
(c) college or university coursework in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business
Education, or closely related fields
30 semester hours = eighteen (18) months
(d) college or university course work in any curriculum
48 semester hours = eighteen (18) months; and
3. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 40 net w.p.m.
Starting salary: $12.05 per hour
