NETWORK ENGINEER II–IT SERVICES
Description: The primary purpose of this position is to support and maintain the SIUE network infrastructure, with an emphasis on voice of IP systems (VoIP). Primary responsibilities include responsibility for the configuration standards for all Avaya CS 1000 call servers, voice mail systems, IP telephones, and peripheral equipment that supply voice communications to three campuses. Additional duties include being part of the network engineering team that provides primary connectivity to all SIUE computers and interconnect all other network devices including wireless access points, firewalls, servers, and networked peripherals. Responsibilities include IP addressing and routing, Domain Name System assignments, IP telephony services and maintenance of all of the miscellaneous systems required to provide reliable, secure, and effective voice and data networking. The Network Engineer II may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.
Minimum qualifications:
Possession of credentials required for Network Engineer I (http://www.sucss.illinois.gov/documents/ClassSpecs/htm/spec1387.htm)
AND
a) (2) additional years of work experience relating to network infrastructure/architecture, remote access systems, and Internet connectivity and support services
OR
b) Master’s degree in related technical field or general managerial field
Starting salary: $4,011 per month
