Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking a dynamic professional to join a partnership between public university social work programs and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) in the implementation of a statewide field support initiative for the Supervisory Training to Enhance Practice (STEP) program. The STEP program will provide field support to IDCFS and private sector direct supervisors of child welfare services to facilitate implementation and sustaining of Illinois’ model of Family-centered, Trauma-informed, Strength-based (FTS) practice.
Candidates are being sought for the following position in the Southern region:
FIELD SUPPORT SPECIALIST-SOCIAL WORK
Description: Using various negotiation, training, coaching and transfer of learning methodologies, the Field Support Specialist works directly with permanency/foster care and intact family service child welfare supervisors and agency management to identify practice enhancement areas and develop group and individual plans to advance the supervisor’s mastery level knowledge of FTS and evidence-informed practices in four key areas: practice mastery and clinical guidance; training and team building of staff; implementation and systems management and supervisory leadership within the agency and the community; aimed at improved outcomes for children and strengthening families.
Minimum qualifications: This position requires a Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university with the appropriate state license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Applicants who meet the above criteria but do not currently possess a LCSW license must be eligible for and successfully complete all requirements to receive such license within one year of employment.
Qualified applicants must possess a working knowledge of organizational change management strategies, established training, coaching and transfer of learning methodologies, case study and clinical case presentation methodologies, established evidence-informed child welfare practices and clinical interventions related to trauma and child maltreatment within family systems, the impact of trauma on the child and family system, child trauma treatment practices, child and adolescent development, issues related to diagnosis and co-morbidity, and other behavioral health issues. This position also requires professional experience of eight (8) or more years in an Illinois public-sponsored, agency-based child welfare setting providing a combination of direct child welfare casework including child welfare Intake, Intact Family Services, Permanency/Foster Care Services, and direct supervision of child welfare direct service staff and/or management of child welfare services. All experience must be in the provision of public-sponsored casework services provided directly to children and families receiving child welfare services from IDCFS or its private sector partner agencies.
Starting salary: commensurate with qualifications
