OFFICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST-SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (DEAN'S OFFICE)
Description: The primary purpose of this position involves extensive work with correspondence and publications for two supervisors. This position has working knowledge of two schedules so that materials, including agendas, display boards, brochures and flyers, are prepared for upcoming events and meetings. The Office Support Specialist creates or assists in creating documents such as: merged letters, recruiting materials/flyers, annual reports, Recruitment Plans, address labels, meeting minutes, and information requests. This position is responsible for maintaining Excel spreadsheets for supervisors. This employee greets students and guests and answers incoming calls to the School of Business office. This position gathers, formats, and publishes information on video wall for student viewing. General office duties for this position include filing, copying, organizing incoming mail, coordinating School of Business activity reports, orders keys and maintains paperwork for School of Business personnel, distribute visitor parking permits and maintain required records. This position performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. Twelve (12) months of clerical/secretarial work experience comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility
3. Any one or combination totaling twenty-four (24) months from the following categories:
(a) work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer systems
(b) vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures
(c) college or university coursework in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business Education, or closely related fields
36 semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
(d) college or university course work in any curriculum
60 semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
4. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 40 net w.p.m.
Starting salary: $2,105 per month
