OFFICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST - East St. Louis Director's Office
Description: The primary purpose of Office Support Specialist is to provide secretarial and administrative support services for the East St. Louis Director's Office as well as other departments at the East St. Louis Center as assigned. Various duties may include: preparing and editing correspondence for internal and external contacts, maintaining and ordering all office supplies, reviewing all forms submitted to the Director's Office to ensure accuracy prior to obtaining signature of Executive Director or Assistant Director, coordinating the sale of parking decals on the East St. Louis Campus for SIUE employees, serving as lead Office Support Specialist and assists with monitoring clerical assistants to ensure continued shift coverage. Additional tasks such as coordinating completion and submittal of salary time records, vacation/sick leave reports and activity reports for the professional staff in the Office of the Director are regular functions of this position. The Office Support Specialist position may be assigned additional related duties and responsibilities in support of the department's mission and goals.
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Twelve (12) months of clerical/office support work experience.
3. Any one or combination totaling twenty-four (24) months from the following categories:
(a) work experience performing clerical/office support work
(b) vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures
(c) college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business Education,
or closely related fields 36 semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
(d) college or university course work in any curriculum 60 semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
4. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 40 net w.p.m.
Starting Salary: $2,278 per month
