The following is a current civil service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR I - (IT TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE) (2 POSITIONS) - IT SERVICES
Description: The Database Administrator is part of the database administration team responsible for the implementation, design, coordination, configuration, installation, and support of all databases supporting the University's information systems. This position will work with other database administrators to: design, implement, test, troubleshoot, analyze, tune, backup, and recover relational databases; upgrade, patch and troubleshoot problems associated with enterprise systems; review, support and maintain security of the enterprise applications and databases. This position may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department's mission and goals.
1. Any combination totaling two years from the following categories:
a) progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession
b) college course work in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline,
as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
● 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one year
● 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two years
2. Additional education, training and experience required by the hiring department:
a) One year experience in a relational database environment or curriculum with exposure to analysis, tuning, and development.
b) One year exposure to data architecture, database design and administration.
c) One year experience with any of the following: Unix, Linux, or Windows Server operating systems.
d) Computer Science or CMIS related college degree with specific coursework in database design, architecture, tuning,
performance, and database recovery; or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 2 years.
e) Certification as an Oracle DBA or Oracle Developer is a plus.

3. Ability to work and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
4. Self-motivated and flexible in accepting duties and direction.
5. Demonstrated ability to apply technical solutions with minimal supervision.
Salary Range: $3,630 to $4,395 per month
