PNEUMATIC INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS MECHANIC – FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Description: This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining pneumatic instruments and controls used in the HVAC system for environmental control of campus buildings. Various duties of the Pneumatic Instruments and Controls Mechanic include, but are not limited to inspecting and adjusting pneumatic controls devices, dampers, valves, thermostats, air compressors and dryers; repairing/rebuilding variable air volume boxes; repairing/adjusting temperature and pressure transmitters, switches, and instrumentation; utilizing the campus energy management system to diagnose and repair HVAC systems; air balancing; programming and making adjustments using HVAC pro software.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman pipefitter, with a minimum of five years of actual work at the trade, including apprentice and vocational training, one year of which was in pneumatic instruments and controls work.
Personal Attributes Needed to Undertake Job: Applicants must have mechanical skills to affect repairs to systems using basic hand tools skills, be able to read control diagrams and blueprints to be able to see how HVAC are controlled and operated, and have the ability to install pneumatic and HVAC controls using sketches, diagrams, and specifications.
Starting Salary: $37.80 per hour
