The following is a current Civil Service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Applicants compete by examination. OFFICE SUPPORT ASSOCIATE-UNIVERSITY HOUSING
Description: This position assists the Community Director, Assistant Community Director, and Assistant Director of Residence Life for Training and Development by performing clerical, organizational, and mail duties. Several key duties and responsibilities include: distribute mail to Evergreen Hall resident mailboxes; maintain accurate record of residents’ mailstop changes and forwarding addresses; enter and maintain information of packages received for residents; distribute package slips to appropriate mailboxes; conduct regular inventory of keys for Evergreen Hall offices and Evergreen Hall resident rooms and is responsible for initiating key control service requests; research and verify annual residence hall Key Agreements from Key Control; prepare for Fiscal Officer’s signature purchasing and vendor payment paperwork utilizing AIS forms; enter Campus Housing Activity Fee expenditures on Excel worksheet; serves a P-card Departmental Card Manager for self, Community Director, Assistant Director, Community Director, and Assistant Director for Residential Education; Assist Community Director, Assistant Community Director and Assistant Director for Residential Education in scheduling appointments with students; and maintain confidential incident/discipline files for residents. The Office Support Associate may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.
Minimum qualifications:
1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:
(a) work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer systems
(b) vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures
(c) college or university coursework in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business
Education, or closely related fields
30 semester hours = eighteen (18) months
(d) college or university course work in any curriculum
48 semester hours = eighteen (18) months; and
3. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 40 net w.p.m.
Starting salary: $1,967 per month
