IT SUPPORT ASSOCIATE/LEARNING SPACE SUPPORT I – IT SERVICES

Description:  Under general supervision of the Manager, this position provides direct support for classrooms and distance learning solutions.  This includes direct support, operation, planning and maintenance of these facilities, with an emphasis on the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) classroom in the East St. Louis Higher Learning Center.  This position assiststs in designing, coordinating, and delivering faculty, staff, and student training workshops and programs.  This person works with faculty and other Instructional Developers to research and implement instructional design strategies within curricula.  This individual will provide research, testing, recommendations and setup to clients pertaining to classroom and distance learning hardware and software purchases.  She/he will provide classroom and distance learning program and technology planning for clients.  This position will also provide client training. The IT Support Associate may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Any combination totaling one year from the following categories:                    
    a) progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession        
    b) college course work in Information Technology (IT) or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
       ●  60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year

2. Additional Experience Required by the Hiring Department:
    a) One to three concurrent years of experience installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software on multiple platforms.
    b) One to three concurrent years working knowledge of networking and telecommunications fundamentals.
    c) One to three concurrent years working knowledge of presentation technologies including design and presentation skills.

3. Additional Experience Preferred by the Hiring Department:
    a) Experience working with urban adolescents.
    b) One to three concurrent years of experience troubleshooting lab, classroom and distance learning technology.

Personal Attributes Needed: Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills; general business skills such as project management, the ability to design training programs, to teach job skills, maintaining a physical inventory, to work independently, and interact with clients; the ability to communicate effectively with other computer support staff as well as the customer, especially the ability to communicate complex technical concepts at a level appropriate to the client’s level of computer knowledge. 

Starting Salary:  $3,170 per month
