Banner Human Resources (Banner HR)

Banner Human Resources allows the University to effectively and efficiently manage all aspects of the employee experience.  These aspects range from supervisors tracking vacation and sick leave time, Payroll issuing employee pay information through direct deposit, employees accessing tax documents and earning statements, and so much more!

This section of our website will provide information on how to gain access to perform different tasks available within the system.

Banner 9 Upgrade

About Banner 9: Coming July 30, 2018

Banner 9 delivers a number of important enhancements, including a modern user interface, enhanced navigation and process management tools, and new functionality across the Student and HR systems. It will also give us greater flexibility as we’ll be able to run Banner on any browser.

    • Sign in to Banner 9 Upgrade using your E-id and Password. 
    • All current employees should have access the same access to Banner 9 as they had for Banner 8. If you cannot access the same Banner screens as before, please contact HR System Manager within HR.
  • Documents & Resources:

As the July 30th date for implementation of Banner 9 approaches, the Office of Human Resources will hold testing sessions for all Banner users to compare and contrast Banner screen entry and reports for Banner 8 vs. Banner 9.  Please click here to view the Implementation Schedule for all Banner users on campus.  Emails will be sent to all Banner users offering sessions to test the new Banner system before implementation.

Banner Access for Departments

To Enter and Approve time for hourly employees or student employees

To track Vacation and Sick Leave for eligible status Civil Service employees, faculty, and staff     

To view information to assist with writing contracts and approving Payroll Certifications

  • Documents & Resources:
    • Employee Information Report (PZRENFO) is available for departments for you to review each employee’s information.  It produces an individual report from Banner ID entry, which assists with PDQ prep and job changes.

Please Note: When an employee with Banner access changes departments and their organization number changes, the previous department must submit the appropriate removal form(s) and the new department is responsible for submitting the appropriate authorization form(s).  (Located in the Documents & Resources sections above.)

Banner Access for Employees

Employees can access Banner through Banner Self Service also known as CougarNet for the following:

As a reminder, employees must have an active SIUE e-id to access CougarNet. For additional information, see an overview at http://www.siue.edu/humanresources/self_service.shtml.

Other Banner HR Information

The Banner HR system is updated by several offices based upon employment type

  • Student Employment enters and maintains student employee records and jobs
  • Graduate School enters and updates graduate assistantship records and positions
  • The Provost Office enters new faculty and non-Civil Service academic positions
  • Human Resources enters and updates all Civil Service jobs and all other positions not previously listed  

Upon fiscal officer approval and notice from Information Technology Services (ITS) that you have completed a SARF form at - https://www.siue.edu/its/forms/, HR will contact the employee and schedule training for the application needed and will authorize employee access. 

Employees who administer leave for their department will also need access to ePrint; the location where the Banner reports are stored. The Banner HR login and ePrint login are located on the ITS page at http://www.siue.edu/its/banner/.
