Taking SIUE by (Red) Storm

Twenty-three student leaders in University Housing and three faculty and staff members at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville were inducted into the Red Storm Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH).  A ceremony for inductees and their family members, sponsored by the Residence Housing Association (RHA), was held on April 13 in the Woodland Hall Multifuction Room.

NRHH is a student organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding residential leaders.  Its membership is limited to the top 1% of student leaders (on each member campus) who live on campus.  SIUE created a chapter to recognize those students who make living on campus much more than just a place to sleep and study.  “Without the dedicated effort of these students, living on campus would feel like just having a room, not a home away from home.  These students have made a difference in other students’ lives and we want to see that continue to happen,” explained RHA Advisor Sheila Coressel.  Selection criteria included living in University Housing for at least two semesters, including the current semester, a 2.3 GPA or better, outstanding leadership and service to University Housing, and participation in campus life.  Nominees were invited to submit an application and complete essays describing their activities and why leadership is important.  Inductees were then chosen by a selection committee.

Student leaders being inducted into NRHH include:

Dustin Robb, Bluff RA
