Approximately 100 families reside in two and three bedroom apartments at Cougar Village. Apartments are available both furnished and unfurnished. Students, faculty or staff must show proof of marriage, civil union legally recognized in Illinois or domestic partnership to live in Family Housing.
The Cougar Village complex also houses over 1400 single students in apartments adjacent to, but mostly separate from, the family apartment buildings. Family Housing is located in Cougar Village buildings 421-431. Please note, all University Housing facilities are non-smoking and no pets (besides fish) are allowed.
In order to apply for Family Housing, complete the online Family Housing application and $175 deposit. Visit the Application and Cost webpage for Family Housing costs. Families can move in throughout the year, depending on availability.
Family Housing is part of the Edwardsville Community Unit District school system. School age children in Family Housing attend N.O. Nelson Elementary (Grades K-2), Woodland Elementary (Grades 3-5), Lincoln Middle School (Grades 6-8), and Edwardsville High School (Grades 9-12).
The Family Resource Center was established to assist the 100 student families that reside at University Housing's Cougar Village. The Center offers a variety of programming for married couples and parents and their children ranging from academic and social to creative and educational. The Family Resource Center also offers a "Rise and Shine" and "After School" program that provides morning and after-school supervision.
