Welcome to the living learning community at SIUE!

Each living learning community at SIUE has been established to enhance the learning experiences of residential students outside of the classroom. Whether it is through an academic or developmental approach, living learning communities at SIUE are improving the lives of many residential students.

University Housing believes that because our students are spending many hours outside of the classroom, it is important to engage them in experiences that will promote their academic success, acclimate them to the university, and connect them with peers that have many of the same interests as they do. Our living learning communities bring academics into the living communities by incorporating faculty interaction through our Faculty Fellows program, host on-site classes in our “smart classrooms,” provide residents with various opportunities for connection and social interaction, and lastly, create a sense of belonging to both SIUE and their individual community.

Advantages of Living Learning Communities at SIUE:

  • Enhanced academic and social opportunities
  • The chance to form bonds with faculty members outside of the classroom through ongoing interaction.
  • Opportunity to live with other  students who share similar interests and ambitions
  • Increased satisfaction with SIUE and the overall college experience
  • Creation of lifelong friendships
