This community houses intended pre-majors of the School of Engineering including programs such as civil, electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering.
To provide a supportive environment for students working in intensive majors within the School of Engineering.
Students have the opportunity to create supportive study groups for college level science and math courses that can be challenging. Students will gain from the experience of faculty members and upper-class mentors through involvement in this FIC.
Students in the Engineering FIC participate in study groups, work on the Trebuchet catapult project together, and have held Video Game tournaments to relax and take a breather from tough course work.
Students in this community are offered an opportunity to be registered in a section of IME 106. This course is an education requirement for most majors in the School of Engineering, but not all. Students are encouraged to discuss with their advisor how to fit this course into their degree plan.
For the 2013-2014 academic year, the Engineering and Technology FIC will be located in Bluff Hall.
New students wishing to become part of a Focused Interest Community should indicate their interest on their University Housing application.
