Assistant Community Director
The Assistant Community Director position is a half-time (graduate assistantship), live-in position responsible for assisting the Community Director with management of a 500-bed residence hall or portion of an apartment community. Responsibilities include: supervise a Desk Manager, Commons Manager, or Family Resource Center staff (hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, resolution of work concerns, termination); provide counseling and referral for residents; conduct disciplinary counseling, sanctioning and referral for residents; and contribute to all community development efforts. Specific responsibilities vary by area. In addition, the Assistant Community Director shares on-call duty responsibilities for approximately 3,500 campus residents.
University Housing currently employs 7 - 9 Assistant Community Directors.
Bachelor’s degree required and admission to a SIUE graduate program. Housing/Residence Life experience strongly preferred.
This is a 50% appointment; 10-month contract with possibility of summer employment. Possibility of renewal based on positive performance.
Graduate Assistants currently receive a $896/month stipend, tuition waiver, 2-bedroom furnished/carpeted apartment, and a meal plan. Assistant Community Directors are responsible for student fees.
