Interested in becoming a Resident Assistant? Please review the information below and download the following four forms. An application is not complete without each of the four forms.
Students interested in applying to be an RA must attend and sign in at one of the following six RA Information sessions:
- Monday, October 29th at 9:09 p.m. in the Bluff Hall Multi-Function Room
- Tuesday, October 30th at 9:09 p.m. in the Cougar Village Multi-Function Room
- Thursday, November 1st at 9:09 p.m. in the Prairie Hall Multi-Function Room
- Tuesday, November 6th at 9:09 p.m. in the Woodland Hall Multi-Function Room
- Friday, November 9th at 12:09 p.m. in the Woodland Hall Multi-Function Room
- Wednesday, November 14th at 9:09 p.m. in the Evergreen Hall Multi-Purpose Room
To be eligible for the RA position, candidates must:
- Attend and sign in at one of the RA Information Sessions
- Turn in a completed application by the appropriate deadline to be fully considered:
- Spring 2008 candidates: Tuesday, November 27th at 4:30 p.m.
- 2008-2009 candidates: Friday, December 7th at 4:30 p.m.
- Submit two reference forms by the appropriate deadline:
- Spring 2008 candidates: Tuesday, November 27th at 4:30 p.m.
- 2008-2009 candidates: Friday, December 7th at 4:30 p.m.
- Complete an online job referral form from the Student Employment website (www.siue.edu/studentemployment/), print the form, and turn it in with your completed application.
- Log-in to CougarNet and select Advanced Search.
- Choose "On-Campus" in the Location box and search.
- Once you find the "Resident Assistant" position, click on it.
- Then scroll down and click on "View Contact Information." This is the Job Referral form.
- Have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA by the time you assume the position (RAs are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA).
- Have lived in University Housing for at least two full semesters by the time you would become an RA if hired.
- Be in good financial, academic, and disciplinary standing.
In addition, RAs are not allowed to student teach, be involved with a co-op, be enrolled in the School of Pharmacy program, or be in their final semester of nursing clinicals (semester eight).
Applications will be accepted after the deadline, however these will not be considered until March 2008. Therefore, if you want to be FULLY CONSIDERED for the 2008-2009 academic year, please ensure your application is submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Demcember 7, 2007.
