Healthcare Informatics consists of a 12 credit four course professional development sequence for which you will receive a certificate of completion.
Healthcare Informatics
Healthcare Informatics at SIUE will provide you with with skills and perspective in planning, designing, implementing and using information technologies. The program is designed for clinical BJC employees who currently have technology-based responsibilities or have an interest in moving their careers in that direction. This program provides a unique opportunity for you, as healthcare professionals, to leverage your prior education and experience to direct your careers to meet this trend.
“Changes in healthcare informatics have all occurred in a very short time," said Gary Stocker, manager, Learning Partnerships at BJC. "The rapid pace of change in healthcare informatics has created a definite and growing need for clinical professionals who are trained to create, store, manage, maintain and analyze health information data."
The healthcare informatics program is designed for BJC healthcare professionals and has been developed in partnership with SIUE. Over the past nine months, the Center for Lifelong Learning has worked with our BJC informatics degree advisory team and SIUE to design a premier graduate program that combines the specific information technology needs of healthcare professionals with the professional expertise of the faculty in the SIUE Schools of Business, Engineering, Nursing and Pharmacy.
