Job Description: The Assistant Community Director for the Residence Halls/Cougar Village position is a half-time, live-in position responsible for assisting the Community Director with management of a residential community. Responsibilities include: supervise a Desk Manager staff (hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, resolution of work concerns, termination); provide counseling and referral for residents; serving as a student conduct hearing officer; and contribute to all community development efforts. Specific responsibilities vary by area. The Assistant Community Director shares on-call duty responsibilities for approximately 3,500 campus residents. Qualifications Required: A bachelors degree and admission into a SIUE graduate program are required. Candidates do not need to be accepted to a program before applying for this assistantship, but they must have already applied for admission to a graduate program. Previous university housing experience is strongly preferred. Education, Social Work, Public Policy, Psychology, Speech Communication, and Business students preferred.
Period of Appointment: 50% appointment; 2013-2014 academic year contract with possibility of summer employment. Start date is July 15, 2013. Possibility of contract renewal based on positive performance.
Salary: $896 per month stipend, tuition waiver, 2-bedroom furnished/carpeted apartment, partial meal plan.
