Job Description: Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Sports Information, the graduate assistant is primarily responsible for assisting in the media, promotional, and statistical coverage of 18 intercollegiate sports at SIUE, located 20 miles from St. Louis. The graduate assistant will be the primary media contact for selected sports and assist in all others. Duties include writing news releases, designing and editing interactive information guides, maintaining SIUE's official website (, and preparing game-day programs as well as other athletics communication materials. The graduate assistant also is active in keeping statistics for selected sports, event management, and other duties as assigned. The graduate assistant works closely with the coaches of both men's and women's athletic program.

Qualifications Required: The successful candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or related field, and be career-oriented toward sports information. Acceptance into SIUE Graduate School; must maintain a 6-12 hour course load per semester. Candidates should have a working knowledge of media relations and collegiate sports. Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, StatCrew are preferred.
Period of Appointment: 10-month appointment beginning August 1, 2014

Salary: $896 per month stipend. Includes tuition waiver.
