Hiring Unit: Department of Philosophy
Job Description: Assist with the preparation for publication of two books in American Indian studies, each with a media companion (DVDs and audio CDs). Responsibilities may include location and checking references; transcribing archival, field, and studio recordings; capturing audio and video recordings to create digital files; editing text, audio and video; obtaining permissions for use of images and recorded material; and communications with project collaborators and other institutions. The Assistant will also assist the faculty supervisor with tasks related to teaching.
Qualifications Required: Reliability, efficiency and productivity; attention to detail and accuracy; good communication skills; ability to work both cooperatively and independently. Essential: accurate word-processing and skill/willingness to install and learn new programs. Desirable: Video-editing; ability to transcribe languages using the International Phonetic Alphabet and similar systems.
Period of Appointment: Fall 2013; possible continuing appointment
Salary: $395 per month (25% appointment)
