Job Description:  The candidate will be assigned to cover club sports as well as assisting with intercollegiate athletics coverage. The candidate reports to the Assistant Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for Student Athlete Welfare and the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Recreation Programs. The candidate must subscribe to the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics and Campus Recreation. Students in this position will develop skills in sports and rehabilitative medicine, human relations, organization and management of health care facilities, supervision and teaching skills, and communication and documentation skills. Duties include:

1. Provide sports medicine coverage for events and practices assigned
2. Assist with insurance documentation
3. Maintain medical records
4. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes
5. Other duties as assigned

Candidate must be available for evening and weekend events. Must comply with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.



Qualifications Required: Previous experience in athletic training, NATABOC certification, Illinois Licensure eligibility required. Appointment requires unconditional acceptance into a graduate program at SIUE. Suggested programs include: Education, Business, Sciences, Guidance, and perhaps others. Undergraduate degree in athletic training or related field of study with an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or higher is preferred. Current first aid and Professional CPR certification is required.

Period of Appointment:  9-month appointment beginning August 16, 2013

Salary:   $1065 per month
