Hiring Unit: Upward Bound Math & Science

Job Description: The graduate student(s) will work with the Director of Upward Bound Math & Science. He/she will be primarily responsible for providing enrichment classroom instruction and tutorial sessions to program participants in related subject areas. Other responsibilities will include office related assignments such as: providing assistance in creating reports, creating statistical data, or other technology related work.
Qualifications Required: Admission into a graduate program of study at SIUE with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics (Algebra through Geometry), Science (Chemistry), Computer Science and/or Language Arts. Graduate with education courses preferred. Knowledge of and sensitivity toward problems of minority and disadvantaged students desired. Must submit an official transcript and have the ability to establish rapport with youth.
Period of Appointment: 25% appointment (10 hours per week); Fall 2012, Spring and/or Summer 2013.
Salary:
1st year assistant: $395-533 (monthly)
2nd year assistant: $422-591 (monthly)
Number of Openings: 3-4 (as needed)
