June 1: Graduate Scholar Award

September: Third Friday in September OTA and OTAA nominations are due in the Graduate School. The Outstanding Thesis Award (OTA) recognizes and rewards a graduate student whose thesis has been identified by the Graduate School as outstanding among all those submitted during the previous academic year. The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (OTAA) is designed to recognize and reward Graduate Assistants for outstanding performance in teaching and instruction. By October 1st: OTA theses and OTAA nominations go to the Graduate Student Award Committee (GSAC). By Mid October: GSAC makes the recommendations to the Graduate School Dean. Recipients are invited to the Graduate Student Honor's Day Luncheon at the end of October.

October: First Monday in October RGGS proposals due to the Graduate School (first round). The RGGS program supports research initiated and conducted by eligible graduate students. Subject to availability of funds. Up to $500 each; $20,000 usually available for the academic year. Second week of October RGGS proposals forwarded to the RPAB Commitee for review.

October: Fulbright U.S. Student Programs for english teaching or research opportunities abroad. Applications due to the Fulbright Program Advisor (FPA) at Office of International Affairs for approval. Applications are submitted online; for further information, contact Office of International Affairs at 650-3785. This program provides future American leaders with an opportunity to study, conduct research, and teach in other countries. Fulbright student grants aim to increase mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchange while serving as a catalyst for long-term leadership development.

October: Graduate School Fair

November 1: RPAB Committee makes funding recommendations to Graduate Dean. Recipients are invited to the Graduate School Honor's Day Luncheon at the end of October.

January: Deadline for Competitive Graduate Award (CGA) applications. The purpose of the CGA program is to support highly qualified new students, including students from underrepresented groups, who are accepted into advanced degree programs at SIUE. Funding is $930 per month plus tuition waivers for 19 awards.

February: First Monday in February RGGS proposals due to the Graduate School. The RGGS program supports research initiated and conducted by eligible graduate students. Subject to availability of funds. Up to $500 each; $20,000 usually available for the academic year. The following week, proposal are forwarded to the RPAB for review (second round) and to make RGGS funding recommendations to the Graduate School.

March 1: RPAB Committee makes RGGS funding recommendations to Graduate Dean. Recipients are invited to the Graduate School Honor's day Luncheon at the end of October.

April 1: Applicants are notified

Year Round

Travel for Graduate Students
The R&D Fund supports the Graduate Student Travel Support Program providing funding to support travel for major paper presentations, and for certain eligible exhibits and performances by classified graduate students. Can apply at any time.
