Jerry Weinberg, Ph.D.

Jerry B. Weinberg is Associate Provost for Research, Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of the Computer Science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He holds a B.S. in nursing from Indiana State University, a B.S. in computer science from the University of South Carolina, and M.S.and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining the Office of Research & Projects he was Chair of the Department of Computer Science. He conducts research in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Human-Computer Interaction, and STEM Education. Dr. Weinberg has been awarded several grants from the National Science Foundation and has served numerous times as an NSF panel reviewer. In 1999, he formed the Robotics Project Group that has introduced robotics projects in various engineering courses and outreach programs. He also conducts the Greater St. Louis Botball Regional Robotics Tournament. His research in includes coordination of large formation of robots, impromptu robot teamwork, tangible robot interfaces, low-cost autonomous vehicles, and using robots to impact STEM education.
