Sue Thomas, Ph.D.

Susan L. Thomas is the Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Program Development and Professor of Psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Allegheny College and an M.A. in Social Psychology, an M.B.A in Administrative Management and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed post-doctoral work in developmental psychology at Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital , a Brown University affiliated hospital and received a certificate from the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education from Harvard University. Dr. Thomas has mentored more than 325 undergraduate and graduate students in refereed research publications and presentations and has received local and national recognition for teaching excellence. Her STEM research work has examined human-computer interactions and she is the recipient of two National Science Foundation grants that studied factors impacting students' expectations of success and interest in pursuing STEM coursework and careers.
