The 2008 deadline has passed.
This program will be offered every three years. The next Research Equipment and Tools competition is expected to take place in Spring 2011.
The Graduate School expects to make approximately 8-10 awards for a total of $100,000-150,000 for the purchase of research equipment and research tools. Research tools are defined as any non-consumable item, such as books, data sets, software, etc.. Funds must be expended by July 1, 2008.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1. All requests must include the following:
- Research Equipment and Tools Cover Form (required) (download Word format)
- A narrative statement containing a brief description of the item, a justification for the item and its role within your research program, and a complete and current cost for the item. The narrative should not exceed two pages.
- A current copy of your CV (three page maximum) that highlights your accomplishments in research and creative activities (research articles, books, awarded external grants, exhibitions or performances, etc.)
2. All proposals must be submitted to the College or School Dean by 4:30 PM on Monday, March 3. The deans will rank the proposals from each unit in terms of their impact on the research infrastructure on their particular School or College and the research productivity or research potential of the faculty submitting the request. The proposals and Deans' evaluations must be received in the Graduate School by 4:30 PM on Friday, March 14.
3. All requests must be for specific equipment and tools that support your research and/or creative activity. Generalized equipment requests, such as laptops or instructional equipment, will not be supported.
4. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday, March 22. Purchase requisitions and other documentation must be received in the Graduate School by no later than Monday, April 5. All funds awarded must be expended prior to July 1, 2008.
AS A CONDITION OF THE AWARD, ALL SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT AN EXTERNAL GRANT PROPOSAL BY JULY 1, 2008.
