Annette and Henry Baich Award

An award of $1,000, designated the Annette and Henry Baich Research Award, will be given for the most outstanding STEP (Seed grant for Transitional and Exploratory Projects) basic research proposal as determined by the R&D committee. Applicants must indicate their desire to be considered for this award on the cover page of the STEP grant application and the proposal must be for basic research within the scope of activity of the Sigma Xi Society. The disciplines generally include the physical sciences, the life and medical sciences, earth and agricultural sciences, engineering, economics, psychology, and mathematics. Expenditures for the Annette and Henry Baich Research Award may support the awardee’s broader basic research agenda beyond the specific project described in the FUR application, but must fall within the guidelines described in the New Faculty Start-up Awards. Inclusion of a budget justification for these expenditures is optional.

Program Deadline: All proposals must be submitted electronically by 5:00 PM, Friday February 1, 2008.
