Excellence in Graduate Education
Note: Until FY 2010 EGE funds are reserved for SAGE.
GRANT PROGRAM, FY 2007
PURPOSE: The Excellence in Graduate Education (EGE) program supports projects that enhance graduate courses and programs. This request for proposals seeks projects proposing innovation in courses or the curriculum and projects that support graduate student recruitment. Projects are encouraged that propose the development of: 1) activities supporting graduate recruitment and enhancing diversity; 2) projects that improve the quality and rigor of graduate courses and programs; 3) new post-baccalaureate certificates; 4) new interdisciplinary degree programs; and 5) innovation in graduate courses.
AWARDS: Up to $52,000 is available for this year's program. Awards typically average around $3000. Funds will be awarded for all line items except equipment costing $500 or more. Unallowable activities include support for research, equipment, and library collection development.
APPLICATION: Proposals should provide the following information.

1. State the specific aim or purpose of the project.
2. Show how the project supports one or more of the 5 categories listed above.
1. Describe the project.
2. Discuss how the project will be developed.
3. State the timeline for the project's implementation.
C. Budget
1. Provide a detailed budget by line item.
2. Provide a Budget Justification.
PROCEDURE: Proposals must be submitted directly to the college/school dean. College/school deans will rank and evaluate proposals before forwarding them to the Graduate School.
TERMS: Funds will be available beginning July 1, 2006. All funds must be expended by June 30, 2007. Funds will be transferred to departmental accounts.
DEADLINE: Proposals are due to the School/College dean by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2006. School/College deans will forward the proposals along with their evaluations and rankings to the Graduate School by Monday, March 20, 2006.
REVIEW: Proposals will be reviewed by the Graduate Council. The Council will forward its recommendations to the Graduate Dean who is responsible for making the awards.
