I. Announcements
Gertrude Pannirselvam announced that she would like to discuss the Programs Committee procedures document in mid-spring.
II. Minutes of September 23, 2011
Nicholas Guehlstrof made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted; Ken Witt seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
III. Form 91A – Electrical Engineering (ENR-11-24)
Since there were no representatives from EE, Ken Witt made a motion to table this request; Poonam Jain seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
IV. Form 91A – Mathematics (CAS-11-63)
The graduate program wishes to allow students in its Postsecondary Math Education option to choose Statistics (STAT) or Operations Research (OR) capstone courses (595 – Special Project or 599 – Thesis) instead of MATH 595 or 599 if it is more appropriate for the individual’s course of study.
There are no anticipated effects on budget or faculty. The program requests this change be effective “immediately.”
Ken Witt made a motion to approve the request; Steffany Chleboun seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
V. Form 91A – Speech Communication (CAS-11-16)
This time is in the Rules and Procedures Committee of the Faculty Senate, therefore, the Programs Committee was asked to delay its review.
Steffany Chleboun made a motion to table this request; Shrikant Jategaonkar seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
VI. Continuing Business
There was no continuing business.
VII. New Business
Since the Graduate School representatives will be out on December 9th, the Programs Committee will meet on Thursday, December 15th, at 1:00 PM in the Provost’s Conference Room.
VIII. Adjournment
Poonam Jain made a motion to adjourn; Koung Hee Leem seconded. The meeting adjourned at 1:15 PM.
