III. Form 91A - Computer Science (ENG-09-010)
The graduate program wishes to remove the requirement of a topic paper, which will reduce the required graduate semester hours from 35 to 34. The program also wishes to replace 598 (topic paper) with 596 (master's project) or a final exam. The thesis option will continue to be available. Those who opt for the thesis will take 28 hours of course work and 6 hours of thesis. Those choosing the project will take 31 hours of course work and 3 hours of project. Those students who opt for the final exam will take 34 hours of course work.
The committee recommended changes in the catalog text to include courses 596-599 in the list of electives.
Valerie Yancey made a motion to accept this request; Andy Lozowski seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
IV. Form 91A - Nursing
The graduate program wished to replace its terminal project, a thesis, with a final project in the final course of the program. Jackie Clement stated that the School of Nursing had not worked out the details, however reviewing the theses every spring has been found to be "too work intensive." She plans to work with other faculty during the summer and fall of 2009 to develop an appropriate final project.
Stephanie McAndrews made a motion to accept this request; Laura Fowler seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The School of Nursing withdrew this request before it could be reviewed by the Graduate Council on May 1, 2009. They will resubmit next academic year.
