Job Description:  Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Sports Information, the graduate assistant is primarily responsible for assisting in the media, promotional and statistical coverage of 16 intercollegiate sports at SIUE, located 20 minutes from St. Louis. SIUE is in the process of reclassifying to NCAA Division I Athletics. The graduate assistant will also assist the Sports Information Director in event management, brochures, and general sports information responsibilities as assigned. The graduate assistant works closely with the coaches of both the women’s and men’s athletic programs as well as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Qualifications Required: Classified graduate student maintaining the required academic standards. The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations or related field, be career oriented towards sports information and have a general knowledge of computers and/or desktop publishing.

Period of Appointment:  August 18, 2008 through Spring 2009 with possibility of renewal.

Salary:   $846 per month (50% appt.)
