The Need for Private Support
No state funds are allocated to implement The Gardens master plan; therefore, enhancements to The Gardens rely on private funding.
In addition to creating a wonderful destination, private support will provide service-learning experiences for students, enabling them to participate in the growth and development of an emerging community asset. Students across disciplines will benefit from the opportunity to work on management, engineering and science projects that are immediately applied in The Gardens. These real-world experiences will prepare students to contribute immediately to their employers and communities upon graduation.
Private support will also ensure that The Gardens remains a free resource, open to everyone who wishes to strengthen their connection to nature. New visitors will add to the economic vitality of the region. Community residents will enjoy the benefits of a premier public garden and related activities in their community.
