Children and Family

The Gardens at SIUE is a beautiful place to enjoy with children. Each season brings something new, and we encourage families to explore off the beaten path.

  • Climb wooden structures in our Family Garden.
  • Discover a fabulous stone circle in the Council Ring.
  • Tromp over the Turtle Pond Bridge.
  • Take cover in the Water Stone sculpture — it offers fabulous shade in the summer and is a wondrous snow fort in the winter.

We encourage you to explore The Gardens and hope that you venture off path to run in the grass, follow a butterfly or observe a beautiful bloom. At the same time, keep an eye out for plants such as poison ivy and wild rose that may leave their mark.

We ask that you not pick the flowers or make collections of any kind. Explore and enjoy the grounds, but please leave what you find.
