Balkan Folk Singing Class with Marvin MoehleTired of singing "La La La" to your favorite folk dance songs? Want to learn the real words, the melody, and the meaning of the songs? Now is your chance! Come to our free Balkan Folk Singing Class on most Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church (same location as regular dancing and an hour earlier). The class will be taught by Marvin Moehle, our resident expert on Balkan customs, costumes, and folklore. Everyone is welcome, and no experience is required. Don't be afraid to join in any Saturday but you might check in advance if you are coming a large distance. Anyone knowing Marvin knows that it will be a fun class! Dance ShareDance Share is an informal gathering of folk dancers for the purpose of learning some of the more challenging and intriguing dances in the IFDA repertoire in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere relatively free from time constraints, taught or reviewed by other IFDA members. The charge is about $4 per night to help pay for renting the space (subject to slight increases if necessary to meet expenses). Dance Share has been on hiatus since the spring of 2008 but may resume. Details will be announced here when available. For more information, please contact Gene Woodford at genew@accessus.net.
