Scholarships:

Scholarships are one form of financial aid  to help you pay for your education, and are offered by governments, colleges and private, outside sources. Scholarships are generally a form of a gift and do not have to be repaid; they can be base upon financial need, merit, or both.

Scholarships are an excellent way to help cover the expenses of attending college.  There are a number of Illinois scholarships provided through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).  Students can also search for scholarships on the Web...but, beware of scholarship scams.  If you wanting to apply for a scholarship but are not sure whether it is legitimate, visit the Federal Trade Commission Web site for scholarship scams.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville offers a variety of institutional scholarships to its students to help cover the costs of education.  Scholarship awards are based on financial need, merit, specified criteria, or a combination of any listed.

SIUE offers Meridian Scholarship opportunities to outstanding freshman students. These scholarships are awarded based on academic record, leadership qualities, and a personal interview with the scholarship committee.  In addition to the Meridian scholarships, SIUE has numerous other institutional scholarships to offer students.

To be considered for the Meridian scholarships or other institutional scholarships, the appropriate application must be submitted by the assigned deadline.  Some scholarships require the student to contact the university department indicated.  This site lists the institutional scholarships offered by the University.

Visit the Institutional Scholarship Web site.
