How does SIUE support your professional growth or activity as a Teacher-Scholar?
"I have release time from a course to develop an academic partnership with a regional health care center (paid collaborative agreement).  Collaboration between practice and education in nursing is becoming increasingly vital as we work together to improve the health outcomes for people in our region and nation."

What is a unique aspect of your professional life that enhances your service to the academic or greater community?
"As an interdisciplinary thinker and scholar, I am able to articulate and implement care models that blend the art and science of nursing.  I also focus on those curricular elements essential for expansive and expert nursing practice-- ethics, aesthetics, philosophy, and personal patterns of knowing."

Please share how one mentor or event shaped your career decision to become a university professor.
"Dr. Belden Lane, Professor in the Department of Theology at St. Louis University, shaped my epistemological framework and helped me appreciate the power and truth in narrative, phenomenological methods, and complexity science. As a master teacher, he modeled how an educator helps learners connect their own questions, lives, and meanings to the works and ideas of others across disciplines."
