Research Focus:
Aquatic Toxicology: Effects of pollution on DNA damage and genetic diversity in aquatic organisms; effects of nanoparticles and other emerging environmental contaminants on fish and frogs; effects of pollutants on hormone function in fish and frogs.

How does SIUE support your professional growth or activity as a Teacher-Scholar?
"Because of a more relaxed atmosphere, I have more time to focus on teaching and research, not just writing grant proposals. Also, funding available for travel from the graduate school/CAS allows me to travel with students to present research results at national and international meetings."

What is a unique aspect of your professional life that enhances your service to the academic or greater community?
"I am an associate editor for the journal Ecotoxicology.”

"Having professors at University of Illinois that exposed me to scientific literature, both in classroom lectures and in outside writing assignments."
