How does SIUE support your professional growth or activity as a Teacher-Scholar?
"The School of Education has twice awarded me the Dean's Grant for Research enhancement.  The grants have allowed me to pursue research on the history of African-American schools."

What is a unique aspect of your professional life that enhances your service to the academic or greater community?
"I serve on the Executive Committee of the International Society for Educational Biography as well as on the Editorial Advisory Board of Vitae Scholasticae: The Journal of Education Biography."

Please share how one mentor or event shaped your career decision to become a university professor. 
"As a young high school teacher, I had a professor in a graduate history course who urged me to do research in the history of education.  The professor helped me to recognize my potential and to eventually pursue a career as a university professor."
