A Message from the Assistant Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity

VenessaBrownwithFaculty

Welcome to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Office of Faculty Development and Diversity.  The Office of Faculty Development and Diversity is responsible for providing leadership in the areas of faculty development, program implementation and management of faculty development opportunities university-wide.  The Office is also responsible for developing a recruitment and retention program including specific diversity initiatives to recruit and retain underrepresented groups.

The mission of the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity is to encourage faculty involvement in the creation and implementation of opportunities that will more fully integrate teaching, scholarship, and service and to use evidence-based practice as a key to achieving this integrated approach.  It is also the charge of this Office to facilitate a campus climate where we embrace, appreciate and celebrate the diversity among the faculty, staff, and students at SIUE.

In reviewing our site it will be evident that our mission is consistent with the mission of the University to provide faculty the resources needed to become excellent teacher/scholars while providing a learning environment that promotes academic excellence in an open and harmonious campus environment.
