SIUE encourages and supports research, defined as “all creative, scholarly, or empirical work (other than that normally associated with instruction and instructional development) that is designed to extend, clarify, or communicate knowledge” (Policy 1M5).  Resources available include information, assistance, and funding as described below or in the links.

Graduate School Office of Research and Projects

The Office of Research and Projects (ORP), located within the Graduate School, provides services associated with funding to support research, maintaining compliance with state and federal research regulations, and supporting the protection and commercialization of intellectual property.  The Proposal Editing Services program supports proofreading and editing services to improve the quality of proposals being submitted to external sponsors.

Lovejoy Library

Lovejoy Library offers many resources that support research activities, including the following:

  • Subject LibrariansLibrarian Faculty Liaisons (Faculty Subject Specialists) 
  • SPARK repository/ Open Access Policy helpInstitutional Repositories (IRs) aim to bring together all of a University's research and creative output under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that content. SIUE SPARK(Scholarly Publications and Repository of Knowledge) is a service of Library and Information Services, fulfilling and expanding the library's traditional role in collecting and preserving the scholarly record and providing open access to SIUE's scholarly and creative output.
  • Special Collections and ArchivesThe Louisa H. Bowen University Archives and Special Collections preserves materials pertaining to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and to the history of Southwestern Illinois.
