Important Notices from FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Revised Custodial Services and Priorities

Due to a combination of decreased staffing as the result of the budget situation and associated hiring freeze, and the opening of new buildings on campus, custodial service levels are being revised. These service levels apply to all academic and administrative buildings on all campuses with the exception of the Morris University Center, University Housing, the Student Fitness Center, Birger Hall, and University Park.

Restrooms will remain the top priority with daily cleaning, trash removal, and stocking of supplies. Drinking fountains will also be cleaned daily.

Classrooms and laboratories will be the second priority. The goal will remain daily cleaning, trash and recycling removal, and stocking of chalkboards, but some work may be less frequent if sufficient staff is not available on a particular day.

Common areas. The frequency of cleaning in common areas such as entranceways, hallways, lounges, elevators, and stairs will be reduced. High traffic areas in entranceways and the hallways on the first floors of academic buildings will be a priority, but may not necessarily be cleaned daily. Other areas will be cleaned at least twice per week.

Offices. Cleaning and the removal of trash will change from weekly to every other week.

Facilities Management will continue to respond to clean-up after spills or other incidents, and will also respond to areas in particular need of trash or recycling removal, or cleaning. Please report such incidents and locations to Customer Service at X3711.

Rendleman Hall Alarm System

The fire alarm system in Rendleman Hall is currently being replaced with the work being accomplished in the evenings.

As a result, occupants and visitors may notice new electrical junction boxes which are being installed in various walls of the building as part of the project.
