Established in 1967 was Performing Arts Training, formerly known as the Katherine Dunham Center for the Performing Arts (KDCPA), now known as the SIUE East St. Louis Performing Arts Program. The program was created by the legendary, world-renowned dancer and choreographer, anthropologist and humanitarian -- the late Katherine Dunham.
For 42 years, ESLCPA has provided classes, workshops, and cultural and performing arts programs. Semester courses include Dunham Technique, West African, ballet, jazz, modern, Hip Hop, piano and guitar. The Performing Arts staff also conducts dance lectures and demonstrations in area school districts.
