Program Resources

Upward Bound Math and Science is a federally funded program in conjunction with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

There is no cost to participants.

What are the hours for Upward Bound Math & Science?
Upward Bound Math and Science Program hours of operation during the academic year are the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-Noon.

The summer component is a six-week residential program where students live in the SIUE main campus dorms. The summer component typically begins on the last week of June and concludes on the last week in July every year. The program is in session beginning every Monday morning through that Friday afternoon, allowing particpants to spend their weekends at home.

Participants in the Upward Bound Math & Science Program receive services in the following areas:

  • Instruction in English, mathematics, science, computer and foreign languages
  • STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities
  • Personal counseling
  • Academic advisement and assistance
  • Tutorial services
  • Participation in cultural events and special academic programs
  • Activities designed to explore a wide range of career opportunities
  • Special instruction to prepare participants for careers in STEM fields
  • A six-week residential summer program offering academic workshops and activities
  • Free meals and lodging
  • Free transportation
  • Stipends and awards
