Educational Talent Search East St. Louis/Brooklyn

About The Program
The Educational Talent Search Program is a federal program sponsored by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).  The program is housed on the campus of the SIUE East St. Louis Center located approximately 25 miles south of SIUE’s main campus.  Talent Search is one of five federal programs (Upward Bound, Student Support Services, Educational Opportunity Centers, and Ronald E. McNair) with similar outcome objectives, but slightly different student populations.  All programs commonly known as TRIO Programs.  Over 1,000 colleges, universities, community colleges, and agencies now offer TRIO Programs in America.  TRIO funds are distributed to institutions through competitive grants.

Talent Search participants receive free tutorial services in college prep courses and some are eligible to receive waivers for the SAT and ACT.  Students visit college campuses in Illinois and out-of-state, receive assistance in applying to college and financial aid.  Participants receive personal, academic, and career counseling.  All participants attend study skills sessions on time management, note-taking, test taking, ACT, etc.
