About the Program

"To positively impact the educational and the economic lives of East St. Louis, Illinois youth, through individualized instruction in core academic subjects, exploration of career interests and specific training in skilled trades, ensuring that graduates realize and attain their educational and career aspirations."

Educational Program
The educational program of the East St. Louis Charter School is consistent with the Illinois Charter School Law, in that the Charter School's instructional philosophy and the program offerings are designed to meet the needs of at-risk learners and students who do not succeed in the traditional educational settings.

The instructional program for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Charter School consists of four main components

  • Direct teaching classroom lectures
  • Computer assisted instruction in core academic subjects
  • Career planning and
  • Specialized training in skilled trades.

The instructional design of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Charter School is geared specifically towards meeting the needs of students who are currently out of the traditional school system, and seeking the opportunity to return to school and attain high school diplomas.
