Community Advisory Council

Role of the Council
The SIUE East St. Louis Center Advisory Council works with the Center Executive Director in the strategic planning and development of the East St. Louis Center in empowering people and strengthening communities throughout its service region.  The Council plays a role in community representation of Center initiatives, activities and evaluation.  The Council makes recommendations in and/or actively support the following:

• Visionary and Strategic Planning

• Public Relations

Responsibilities of the Council
Members of the Advisory Council are responsible for staying informed about East St. Louis Center activities by attending Advisory Council meetings four times each year.

Members of the Advisory Council support the East St. Louis Center by:

• serving as consultants to the Center Executive Director.
• providing input and recommendations on strategic planning issues.
• participating in overall Center-wide evaluation.
• promoting the Center locally, throughout the region, and where opportunity arises, nationally.
• attending, from time to time, Center activities and/or community functions.
• encouraging community support for the work of the Center.

Council Membership
Advisory Council membership consists of representatives from the following:

• Community leaders
• Past participant/client representative
• Individuals from corporate, business and philanthropic sectors
• Individuals from education
• Individuals representing various service communities of the Center

Meeting Information
Advisory Council meetings are held quarterly, with a membership term of two years.  Terms are/may be renewed by mutual consent.
