The Office of Admissions’ purpose is to inform prospective students of the educational programs an opportunities provided by SIUE, and to facilitate and process their application for admission to the university.
The office is the point of contact and main resource for students, parents, high school counselors, community college counselors/advisors, and others who assist students in their decision to pursue a post-secondary education.
The Office of Admissions comprises 5 units:
- Academic Mailing — Mails requested materials to prospective students who inquire about SIUE. Academic Mailing also provides reports and maintains data that facilitates effective recruitment of new students.

- Admission Counseling — Counsels all new students about pursuing an education at SIUE, through high school and community college visits throughout Illinois and parts of Missouri, as well as through personal meetings during students’ visits to campus.

- Admission Review and Processing — Reviews and processes all applications for admission (freshman, transfer, graduate, international) from new and returning students.

- New Student Programs — Coordinates Springboard to Success (freshman registration), TRANSFERmation (transfer orientation), and New Freshmen Welcome and Convocation programs. These programs also facilitate course registration for freshmen and transfers.
