Choosing Engineering at SIUE

Thank you for your interest in the School of Engineering at SIUE!

Below is information crucial to making an informed choice regarding our engineering programs.

Engineering Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted to programs offered in the School of Engineering, students must meet University admission requirements as well as any additional School of Engineering requirements:

• completion of all Academic Development courses (if any) required by the University
• completion of any courses required to address high school deficiencies as determined by Springboard placement testing
• eligibility to enroll in at least MATH 125 (Pre-Calculus)
• Transfer Students: maintenance of a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

Transfer Students

Our transfer website at www.siue.edu/transfer is a good resource for transfer articulation information. Please follow the steps below on how to use the transfer website for course articulation.

1. go to www.siue.edu/transfer
2. click on 'Transfer Credit Equivalency Guides'
3. click on the green button ‘Course Equivalency Guides (CEG)’
4. using the drop down menu, select the State in which you plan to take or completed the course/s
5. using the drop down menu, select the Institution you plan on attending or attended within that state
6. using the drop down menu, select the Subject you plan on enrolling in or already enrolled in 
7. click the ‘Submit’ button…the website will then display equivalency information.

Quick Tip for Specific Course Search:

Leave ‘All Subjects’ in the Subject area and click ‘Submit’; then search for a specific course from either institution by clicking Transfer Subject’/’Transfer Number’ or ‘SIUe Subject’/’SIUe Number’.  

Transfer Credit Advisory Note: The University may accept transfer “D” grades; however, in the School of Engineering, a grade of C or better is required in all chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering science courses applied to major or minor requirements. Construction Management students must also meet all Business Minor requirements. A course that transfers in as 1xx, 2xx, 3xx or TRF 1xx; TRF 2xx; TRF 3xx may require a course description and/or syllabus for further evaluation.
