9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Engineering Building, SIUE
The School of Engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is celebrating its seventh annual Open House on Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Open House is for potential students, their parents, and the general public.
The School of Engineering is located in a 129,000 square foot facility that opened Fall 2000 on the beautiful Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus just 22 miles from downtown St. Louis. Almost an acre of glass forms the curtain walls on two sides of the west wing of the building. The building features a three-story atrium that is crossed at the second and third floor levels by walkways. Much of the structural system and the HVAC system are exposed throughout the building making it a "living laboratory" for students interested in building design and construction.
The building houses all programs in Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management, which were previously located at 4 different campus locations. It includes a 100-seat auditorium, 12 classrooms, 28 teaching / research laboratories, 6 research-only laboratories, and 6 open computer laboratories. The Computer Integrated Manufacturing, the Dynamic Strength Testing, and Aerodynamic Testing Laboratories provide expanded research capabilities for the School.
Engineering faculty and students will host the Open House. Representatives of all student organizations will be available to discuss their experiences at SIUE. All the laboratory and classroom facilities will be open with interactive laboratory demonstrations and exhibits.
Since its start in 1968 with 37 students and a single "engineering program", engineering at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville has grown to the current School of Engineering with approximately 1200 students. The School consists of five Departments offering eight accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Construction. A Bachelor of Arts is also available in Computer Science. MS programs are also offered in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Be sure to mark your calendars and come join us on March 20, 2010!
