SIU Board of Trustees Approves SIUE Tuition Increase for 2017-18

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees today approved a five percent tuition increase for all new and continuing undergraduate students at SIUE, effective fall 2017. The board met on the Edwardsville campus.

Tuition for the 2017-18 Academic Year will result in a $420 increase over last year for newly entering, undergraduates on the Edwardsville campus.

SIUE Fee Changes Approved by SIU Board of Trustees

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees today approved fee-related changes for the Edwardsville campus for the fall and spring terms of the 2017-18 academic year. The changes made during the board’s meeting on the Edwardsville campus included housing occupancy rates and the student fees for Information Technology, Textbook Rental and Intercollegiate Athletics.

Other fee changes were approved for the Student Welfare and Activity Fee (SWAF), Facilities and resident meal plans.

SIUE alumnus and School of Engineering advisory board member Jonathan Fowler, accepted the 2016 Business of the Year award on behalf of J. F. Electric Incorporated during the City of Edwardsville’s Economic Forecast Breakfast held Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Wildey Theatre.

Breast cancer survivors join the SIUE women’s basketball team in celebration ahead of the game against Jacksonville State.Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Women’s Basketball and SIUE Pink Zone joined forces to raise awareness and funds for Susan G. Komen Missouri, contributing more than $7,000 toward a cure.

Class of 2020Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s spring enrollment of 13,276 students is the second-largest spring enrollment in the University’s history. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Engineering’s Jacob Baird, a senior computer science major from Caseyville, was part of the first place team of the collegiate division at GlobalHack VI held October 21-23 in St. Louis.

SIU President Dunn Reinforces System’s Viability

Southern Illinois University President Randy Dunn addressed the state of the system today in the Morris University Center’s Meridian Ballroom on the Edwardsville campus.

Dunn said Illinois seems to be in the midst of a grand reshaping of the state-university covenant, but he believes all campuses in the SIU system will remain viable for years to come. SIUE School of Pharmacy to Host Paver Donor Recognition Event

A group of volunteers, including School of Pharmacy Dean Gireesh Gupchup, members of SIUE’s Constructors Club, and members of the Rotary Club, installed engraved pavers at the School’s Medicinal Garden. The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy is hosting a special reception on Friday, Oct. 21, in celebration of its Best and Brightest Paver Drive and Endowed Scholarship Campaign. The effort raised more than $63,000 for new and continuing SIUE School of Pharmacy students.

Qi’s research project is in collaboration with Washington State University, with funding from the Illinois Center for Transportation.
